January 2020
Our January winner of the Cathay Pacific PYE amenity kit and pyjamas was fellow travel blogger Emma from Cut Lunch Adventures, who have a trekking website chock full of resources.
Favourite Flight: Kathmandu to Lukla (for the anticipation of the next trek and spectacular views of the Himalaya)
Does not leave home without: Trevor
What do you leave at home: an empty fridge
Do you take amenity packs: yes, I like the bags they come in
What travel apps are on your phone: Qantas, AirNZ, Uber and Google Translate
Cash or Cards: cash for the money changer in Kathmandu, cards everywhere else
December 2019
Max was our December winner walking away with the Qantas pyjamas and amenity pack. You may be familiar with Max as he leaves regular feedback on our blog. He promises to share a photo once the temperature cools.
Favourite Flight: The flight that takes me to my happy place (my native Provence in the south of France)
Does not leave home without: My golf clubs, my portable luggage scale, a French crosswords magazine I’ve made it a life goal to complete
What do you leave at home: As much as possible. Over the years I’ve had many a trip and noticed when unpacking at home that many clothes I packed never left the suitcase. I now travel as light as possible.
Do you take amenity packs: When available and depending on what they contain 🙂
What travel apps are on your phone: Google does a wonderful job reading my emails for me and reminding me of flights / delays. Once abroad I will scope out TripAdvisor for reviews. Google Maps by far the most used abroad.
Cash or Cards: Cash? What’s that?
November 2019
Meet our November winner Rebecca G who won the Cathay Pacific Bamford amenity pack and bag.
Favourite flight: any flight where I can watch movies there and sleep on the way back. I am usually far too excited to get any shut-eye on the way there.
Does not leave home without: At least one change of clothes in my carry-on. You never know when you’ll need it.
What do you leave at home: Anything bulky. Most of the time you don’t need it and if you suddenly do you can always get it while there.
Do you take amenity packs: Always! They’re pretty and useful.
What travel apps are on your phone: All the different frequent flyers apps plus Skyscanner to find cheap flights
Cash or Cards: Cards most of the time. I love any of the ones which either don’t charge or waive any foreign transaction fees.
October 2019
Meet Rachel, our inaugural winner of the Qantas pyjama and amenity pack. We asked about her travel habits and this is what she had to say:
Favourite flight: Don’t have a favourite, but I did enjoy my trip with Korea Air from Seoul to New York. They served one of my favourite foods, Bibimbap, a traditional Korean dish comprising of mixed veggies with rice
Does not leave home without: My lipsticks. Small things make a big difference. I always keep at least three different lipsticks or balms in my bag to keep my lips hydrated. Bold colours fill me with confidence.
What do you leave at home: My dog Piccolo @Piccolo_shiba. It’s sad that I can’t take him on my travels. It’s lucky that I have a group of friends who’re willing to dog sit Piccolo when I’m away and he gets well and truly pampered.
Do you take amenity packs: I don’t usually take amenity packs. Unfortunately most of time amenity kits that left behind on the plane are simply thrown out. Next time I might take one with me and donate it to a shelter when I get home.
What travel apps are on your phone: I have plenty of travel apps. My top three are: Google Maps, Airbnb and TripIt. I’ve recently become a big fan of TripIt. I love that you can email your itineraries directly to the app and have all my travel plans in one place.
Cash or Cards: Cards. Most of time I don’t carry a physical card as I can simply pay via Google Pay on my phone. When traveling in China, I always use WetCha Pay. I love that I can use it with street food vendors.
