My QM2 Britannia Single Review below is based on an Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing in May 2018 from New York to Southampton.
In this post:
Does Queen Mary 2 have single cabins?
Yes, Queen Mary 2 has 15 single cabins located across Decks 3 and 4. They were added during the 2016 ‘remastering’ of QM2 and benefit from a beautiful interior and bathroom, with some passengers dubbing them ‘Queens Grill Singles’ given their quality. The staterooms on Deck 3 have the largest cabin windows on the ship.
Britannia Single Stateroom Review – 3002 (KC)
Having seen photos and the virtual tour on the Cunard website, I thought the rooms would be rather lovely. Stepping into Stateroom 3002, my home for the next seven days, for the first time in New York did make me smile.
The room is perfectly proportioned and designed with two oversized windows, ample storage space in the wardrobe for one and a luxurious bathroom fit out comparable to the Grills (but sans bathtub).
Britannia Single Windows
Two oversized (obviously due to these rooms being located along a former passageway) ensured the room was always filled with light, even on a cloudy day. And being on such a low deck you can see the ocean even in bed:
Here they provide a nice frame for the much loved Pol Acker provided at embarkation (which was gifted to my cabin steward):
And it was lovely to watch sunrise and sunset too:
Britannia Single Bathroom Review
Given the lack of photos in online reviews of the excellent bathroom, I made sure to take a number for this QM2 Britannia Single Review. I think the photos speak for themselves. Great to have a proper glass door for the shower and the marble countertop added a premium feel.
Britannia Single Wardrobe
There was plenty of space for all my clothes needed on a transatlantic crossing to do the dress code justice.
There was also a handy slide-out tie rack:
And capacious drawers for folded garments:
Location
The Britannia Single cabins are all located midships just aft of the Grand Lobby, which is very handy for the Britannia Restaurant, Queens Room, Chart Room and Golden Lion Pub.
There is also noticeably less movement being so low and central within ship, which was noticeable when compared to the Library etc.
Noice!
Trivia Q: which of your colleagues has been aboard the QV, QE, QM liners?
A: it’s yours truly! I have a cousin who’s a chef with Cunard and brings me on board whenever he’s in Sydney. I have toured (extensively) the liners and eaten (extensively) aboard all of them.
Sensational, Dylan! I’ve only been on the standard behind the scenes tour that Cunard run and it was a super interesting experience.
Hi Milton!
Im seeking to book a solo traveler cabin on Queen Mary, but I can not find the category for the ocean view cabin, as far I know this cabin (3002) belongs to the KC category, but on the Cunard webpage is not available, any recommendation or where you made you booking process?
Thank you
Hi Alfredo,
As there are only 15 solo cabins on QM2 (6 x KC, 9 x KB) they tend to book out within a few days of new voyages being released. Best to monitor the Cunard Forum on Cruise Critic for upcoming release dates.
Best of luck,
Milton
