The flight up to Danang would be my first experience and opportunity to review SilkAir Business Class.
After a few hours spent exploring Jewel, the new shopping mall at Changi Airport, it was time for the flight up to Danang.

SilkAir Business Class Review – MI632
Singapore (SIN) – Danang (DAD)
Thursday, October 3
Depart: 9:00AM
Arrive: 10:45AM
Duration: 2hr45minutes
Aircraft: Boeing 737-800
Seat: 2C (Business Class)
SilkAir departs from Terminal 2 at Changi Airport and after clearing immigration and a smooth security check at the gate (rather than prior to entering airside as is the case with most airports) it was time to fly.
Boarding was well managed with Business Class passengers being invited to board a few minutes after arriving at the gate lounge.
The crew were on hand to provide a warm welcome aboard and directed me to Seat 2C. I asked the flight attendant if there was going to be a passenger in Seat 2A (the seat map online indicated no) and was pleased to learn that I would have this pair of seats to myself.
There are a total of 12 seats in Business Class in a 2-2 configuration with comfortable recliner seats.
Seat controls are manual but with good recline and a footrest.
The cabin crew did a good job of distributing pre-departure beverages in between boarding passengers, always a challenge when there is only one aerobridge and on a single aisle plane.
We pushed back on time and had a long taxi out to the runway as there was a fair amount of traffic at Changi this morning.
We were treated to a great view of Jewel and the iconic Changi Air Traffic Control tower as we took off.
Once airborne and with the seatbelt sign turned off, the crew sprang into action to distribute the inflight entertainment, consisting of iPads loaded with movies and music, and take meal orders.
SilkAir Business Class Food
The efficient and personable crew soon set up my tray table for breakfast with a selection of tropical fruit, which were exceptionally sweet, and a cup of tea.
A crew member then came around with a basket of hot pastries and I opted for a buttery croissant.
Before long the hot main meal arrived. The Malay-style Braised Chicken with Turmeric Rice & Mixed Vegetables hit the spot with a bit of a spicy kick.
The service was well paced and the cabin crew did a good job ensuring everyone got their meals in good time. A hot towel service rounded out the meal.
It was a clear day so I spent the rest of the flight enjoying the view out the window as we flew up the coast of Vietnam.
We arrived on time at Danang International Airport and being a smaller airport it was a quick taxi to the gate.
Tip: Ensure you check the visa requirements for Vietnam for the passport you are travelling on as you will be denied boarding without appropriate documentation.
SilkAir Business Class Review – Summary
This was a very good intra-Asia Business Class experience with a comfortable seat for the short 2hour 45 minute flight up to Danang.
The crew were as attentive and polished as mainline Singapore Airlines and a substantial and tasty breakfast was all one could ask for.
