Review: Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge Sydney Business Class

After a bit of a wait at check in, it was time for my first visit to the Business Class side of the Singapore Airlines Silver Kris Lounge in Sydney. Located above Gate 57, it sports the latest lounge design by Ong&Ong and is a quality lounge for an outstation.

As you enter the lounge, there is a small room with water and a few bottles of wine. I assume this is the overflow area for when the lounge proper gets full, but prior to the evening departure of SQ288 at 9:20PM this space remained empty.

The main section of the lounge is a large rectangular room with comfortable armchair seating and plentiful power outlets at each seat.

Silver Kris Lounge Sydney – Food & Drinks

Having spent the day at a team offsite and not having time for a proper dinner before heading to the airport, the food offering was thankfully substantial and of good quality.

There is a buffet island with both Western and Asian hot options.

There were even sausage rolls on offer, a nod to our local cuisine!

My first course was the roast chicken and roast vegetables, which were both full of flavour.

And for the second course, I had the excellent fish curry with steamed jasmine rice.

Many lounges provide the bare minimum of food, usually cold cuts and salad ingredients, so it’s good to see a proper dinner offering on par with British Airways Pre-Flight Dining (where you forgo your meal on board for a full dinner in the lounge).

There are also proper dining tables so you can dine comfortably.

Now it wouldn’t be a lounge review without an inspection of the champagne on offer, with Aubert Et Fils Brut Champagne being served at present.

Interestingly the Huon Hooke review on the Dan Murphy’s website mentions ‘Singapore Airlines lounge’.

Bathroom & Shower

The Silver Kris lounge has private bathrooms and two shower suites. Fortunately these showers are directly accessible, unlike some lounges where they are located within the gendered bathrooms.

A package of towels are provided, as are hotel sized shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

Silver Kris Lounge Sydney Review Summary

The Silver Kris Lounge in Sydney ticks all the boxes with a quiet ambience, power ports and fast wifi, quality hot food and showers.

It provided everything I wanted before my overnight flight, including pre-flight dining to allow more time for sleep on board, and was a very comfortable way to pass a few hours.
